Wearing It Out...

or In, as the case may be.  I'm speaking of the previously noted Downhome Funky Dress.  See?!
Shot live in the bed-sitting room, looking out into the museum/archives
I'm sporting that dress and that necklace along with an old stretch lace store-bought top and old cowboy boot clogs.  Click on the bold words to check out what the items look like up close and personal!

And without further ado, I'm linking up with Patti and all the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style,  the Pleated Poppy,  Recycled Fashion Finds and Refashion Co-op.

  1. I love this dress, and the name you gave it too. Must start naming my clothing more creatively! Wonderful pendant too, painted with nail polish? Fabulous. Thanks for linking!

    1. This poor dress needed a name! Thanks for being the link provider Patti, Mondays wouldn't be the same without you - that's for sure.

  2. I just clicked over and saw the gauchos under 'that dress'. It brought me back to 1976, when I owned a pair and wore them with lace up espadrilles and thought they were the coolest in the world. Thanks for that quick trip down memory lane. Very cool dress and pendant. :-)

    1. Yea, I had more way back then and wore them with boots. And I love the ones I still have and remade longer - they're so comfortable made from a jersey knit that's flow-y. Memory Lane has a lot of cool stuff!

  3. I didn't catch the wee bit of lace the first time I saw the dress. I love it! I need to dress more creative and in more dresses but my figure doesn't look good in most dresses on the market. I need to learn how to sew because the shape of this dress would be perfect in all kinds of lengths. I can't get over how much I love the t-shirt you refashioned too. I'm dying here!

    1. I love the lace trim at the hemline too for some reason.

Are you kidding? You dress mucho creative! And I'm always so jealous of how you look in your skinny jeans. How could you not look good in dresses?!

ooo, and that T-shirt redesign...that I wear to slub around the house and even to sleep in? Well it certainly is easy enough to make.

Sew! It's so easy and fun and creative and ...

  4. OMG. I just went to a few of your links and saw some of the Fall refashions!! I'm totally, madly in love with what you've done!! Pants from a shirt?!! The kimono with all the beautiful details?!! Spectacular. Next month, I'll be sewing again for sure!! I might even sneak a little in this month. I hope so.

    1. My, my Jean, whatever is going on that you're not able to sew for a whole month?! That's like not eating or breathing. Glad to find you're keeping in touch with a post during this busy time. Have some fun.

  5. The bits of colour brought in by your alterations and accessories just light up the dress. I am a fan of cowboy boot clogs - and gauchos, myself! :)

    1. Otherwise I think I'd be wearing the color of oatmeal. Not so appealing, huh?

Ooo, ooo, have you wore them yet?! I mean posted yourself wearing them? Cowboy boot clogs are probably as cool as I get shoe-wise...I confess I crave groovy shoes, but they're soooo expensive, I simply can't justify it. ah well. And are they still called gauchos these days?

    2. Aw, I only wish I had cowboy clogs! My gauchos were identified as such on the tag - there were many of this same pair, deeply clearance discounted, so maybe not so many of us are fans?

They may also be identified as wide-leg cropped trousers, or capris, perhaps.

    3. Ah I knew it! My cowboy boot clogs aren't really groovy. (Would that be considered an oxymoron? or is it just me...)

  6. I love your revitalized dress. I like the added lace at the bottom. Good job recycling the dress.

    1. Thanks Megan Mae, that's a good term for it - revitalizing. I think I'll use it!

  7. I'm glad you were able to massage that dress to life! This is a fantastic look. I agree - the lace along the hem is beautiful. And I love how you used nailpolish on the necklace. I always learn some new creative bit here. I'm just catching up on all your awesomeness!

    1. Yes, I never gave up. Well yes I did, it was an on and off affair. Now it's my favorite house dress! I do appreciate you stopping by, I know how busy you are - what with the band and all that boundless creativity...

  8. I'm loving the lace that you added to the hem and your creativity with the necklace is making me smile. You see unlimited possibilities in every piece that you decide to renew and I sense that you see the same potential in humans as well.

    1. Hi Judith! Yes, saved by the lace I think. It was the last thing I thought of for it and I had exactly - I mean exactly - enough to make it around the hem. So you know it was meant to be there. Hmmm...I just wish I could remember that unlimited potentiality in myself, for myself, whenever I needed it. That's the ticket!
